# Knowledge and projects

## Knowledge

**Marketing** → **Knowledge** (`/m/marketing/knowledge`) has two tabs: **Entries** (described here) and **Learnings** (what the brand's own ad results say). One pill next to the title counts what waits for review across both ("3 to review"). **More** at the top right holds **Playbooks** (the instructions each step follows, with the number of changes waiting, for example "Playbooks (1 to review)") and **Export knowledge**. Learnings and playbooks are described in [Results and learning](/docs/marketing/learning). Old links such as `/m/marketing/knowledge/playbooks` keep working.

**Entries** is the library of facts about the selected brand. Only active entries are used. The list has the columns **Title**, **Kind**, **Status**, **Pinned**, **Project** and **Updated**; filter on **Kind**, **Status**, **Project** and **Pinned** in the toolbar. A row opens the entry.

An entry has a **Title**, a **Kind**, **Content** (Markdown is supported), **Tags**, an optional **Project**, **Pinned** and an optional **Valid until** date. The **Kind** is one of **Brand fact**, **Product**, **Offer**, **Audience insight**, **Competitor note**, **Trend note**, **Decision** or **Do and don't**.

The **Status** is **Active**, **Proposed**, **Rejected** or **Retired**:

- An entry you add with **Add entry** is **Active** at once.
- An entry created from a document is **Proposed** until someone accepts it. See below.
- **Retire** takes an entry out of use without deleting it. Delete from the row menu removes it for good, together with its version history.

The **Source** of an entry is **Added by hand**, **From a document** or **Proposed by AI**.

### Proposed entries

When a [document](/docs/marketing/brand-context#documents) is uploaded, each heading becomes a **Proposed** entry. The review pill next to the title counts them, together with proposed learnings. Use **Review proposals** on the document, or filter **Status** on **Proposed**.

Open the entry, read and fix the text with **Edit**, then click **Accept** to make it **Active**. **Accept** needs the approve permission, which is separate from edit access, so a member who can edit marketing may still not be able to accept. Only a proposed entry can be accepted.

To drop a proposal, click **Reject**. "Reject this proposal?" asks for an optional **Note** (for example "we stopped this offer in September"). The entry becomes **Rejected**, stays out of every brief, and the note is kept in its version history. Rejecting needs the approve permission and works only on a proposed entry.

### Versions

Whenever you change an entry's **Title** or **Content**, the previous text is kept as an earlier version and the **Version** number goes up by one. Changing only the kind, tags, project, pinned or valid-until date does not create a version. The entry page lists them under **Version history** ("Version 1", "Version 2" and so on); a new entry shows "No earlier versions."

### Export

**More** → **Export knowledge** downloads all **Active** entries of the selected brand as a zip of Markdown files, named like `knowledge-your-brand-2026-10-28.zip`. Each entry is one `.md` file named after its title, starting with its title, kind, tags, status and valid-until date. Proposed and retired entries are left out. A brand without active entries exports a zip with only a `README.txt`.

## Projects

**Marketing** → **Projects** (`/m/marketing/projects`) groups knowledge by campaign or product launch. Projects are optional; use them for a launch or a season. A project has a **Name**, a **Status** (**Active** or **Archived**) and **Notes**. Click **Add project** and give it a name; **More** in the window holds the notes. The row menu has **Edit**, **Archive** (or **Make active** for an archived project) and **Delete**.

A project opens a page with its details and its knowledge entries. To place an entry in a project, pick the **Project** on the entry.

Deleting a project keeps its knowledge entries and swipe ads; they only lose the link.

## On mobile

The Borkol app lists the brand's learnings with **Accept** and **Retire**, and shows proposed knowledge read only. Adding, editing, accepting or rejecting knowledge entries, playbooks, export and projects stay on the web. See [Marketing on mobile](/docs/marketing/mobile).
